Our Service

Daybreak is an alternative treatment option for people struggling with addiction to alcohol and/or other drugs. It is a program designed around Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) delivered in a group format.

Eligibility

Anyone over the age of 18 years, who has achieved abstinence or actively reducing from their main substance of concern with a willingness to participate in group therapy.

Please note: Daybreak does not offer detoxification and participants are expected to be sober from all substances while attending the program.

Referral process

Referrals are accepted from individuals or agencies, including referral via ACSO (1300 022 760).

Participants will be booked in for an assessment with the Daybreak facilitator to ascertain their suitability for the program.

Programs will run throughout the year.

If deemed eligible for Daybreak at assessment, there is no waiting period to commencing the program.

Cost

There is no cost for this service.

Service Information

Daybreak provides a safe and supported environment for our participants. We have a fully equipped kitchen and participants will be requested to assist with the preparation of lunches each day. Food for lunch and snacks are provided, as well as tea and coffee. There is also some provision for breakfast if required. Core units and wellbeing activities will be conducted throughout the day.

While attending the program participants are expected to attend substance free.

What does the program look like?

Daybreak is an intensive six week, day rehabilitation program that consists of compulsory core and wellbeing units (Monday to Thursday).

  • Managing cravings and urges
  • High risk situations
  • Foundation CBT
  • Managing anger and frustration
  • Communication skills
  • Managing depression and anxiety
  • Problem solving
  • Goal setting
  • Emotion regulation – Checking facts and opposite action
  • Asking for what you want and how to say no
  • Assertiveness skills – DEAR MAN, GIVE, FAST
  • Building effective relationships
  • Ending destructive and interfering relationships

  • Community Lunch Program
