Occupational Therapy
The role of the Occupational Therapists at Sunraysia Community Health Services, is to assist individuals who are frail, aged and/or have a disability to maximize their functional independence at home and in the community. Occupational Therapy promotes independence in all aspects of daily life, such as showering & bathing, dressing & grooming, eating & drinking, toileting, seating, bed transfers and social, leisure and community activities.
How can an Occupational Therapist help you?
An Occupational Therapist can help you by listening to your needs and working with you to plan the most appropriate treatment for you, including setting goals and developing a treatment plan. You will be actively involved in your Occupational Therapy care.
Occupational Therapy services at Sunraysia Community Health Services may include:
- Support to enable you to carry out personal, domestic and community activities of daily living activities safely and independently (such as showering, dressing, eating, housework, community mobility and leisure activities).
- Assessment and advice on modifications to the home environment to prevent falls, and improve safety and independence.
- Advice regarding adaptive equipment such as wheelchairs, mobility scooters and pressure care devices.
- Support to adapt to age related changes such as decreased energy, vision, hearing & mobility.
- Developing ways to cope with memory loss.
- Collaboration with other Allied Health Professionals and service providers in the community to assist you to meet your goals.
- Working with carers regarding transfer & positioning techniques and use of adaptive equipment to reduce the physical & emotional stress related to being a carer.
- Support to gain adaptive equipment and home modifications through the State Wide Equipment Program.
Occupational Therapists may visit your home, or work with you in the centre.

Allied Health Consultations
Chargeable services – fees capped at four per month including Group Sessions and Community Health Nursing.
