Quaid is kicking goals with the support of the YES program!

Quaid is 16 years old and has been actively involved with HomeBase for several years.

Recently, Quaid has landed his first job at Woolworths and thanks the HomeBase team for their support through the Youth Employment (YES) Program.

The 6-week program allows participants to attended workshops on resume writing, interview skills, conflict resolution and communication as well as workplace etiquette and mock interviews, aimed at boosting youth’s confidence when engaging with potential employers. 

To gain practical skills, Quaid participated in a work experience at Woolworths. This opportunity helped him learn and develop skills in teamwork, time management, and customer service. Building great rapport and earning positive feedback from his supervisor. 

After applying for a couple of positions including Woolworths where he completed his work experience, Quaid successfully landed a job at Woolworths. His preparation and work experience making a strong impression on the hiring team.

Since starting at Woolworths, Quaid has grown so much. He has gained his own financial independence, and his smile remains as bright as ever!

Quaid’s journey to working at Woolworths shows his determination and the importance of initiatives like the YES Program. His success highlighting that the right support creates better outcomes for young people entering the workforce.

Looking ahead, Quaid aims to keep developing his skills and explore further career opportunities, one goal being becoming a chef.
