Drug Treatment

SCHS Drug Treatment Services provide free and confidential services to people in the community seeking information, support and specialised treatment with alcohol and other drugs.

Eligibility

SCHS can provide support services to people working and living in Mildura, Ouyen, Robinvale and surrounding areas. Appointments can be delivered Face to face, via telephone or telehealth.

Referrals

To be referred to our Drug Treatment Services, please contact the Victorian catchment agency ACSO on 1300 022 760 

Alternatively, you can obtain a referral from your General Practitioner.

Cost

Most SCHS Mental Health services are  free  of charge.

General Counselling fees are set according to your circumstances and are generally affordable. When you call to make a time for an intake screening appointment we will discuss the fee structure and provide you a form to complete.

Our Service

SCHS Drug Treatment Services are committed to providing a free and confidential service to community members requiring information, support and specialised treatment with drug and alcohol issues.

Referral process

Getting a referral to a SCHS drug treatment service are generally done by a GP with a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) via Argus. Referrals from other external agencies are also welcome.

In some circumstances, people can self-refer and obtain a MHCP within a few weeks of commencing treatment if required. Please contact us directly if you would like to know more about this. A MHCP is not required for our General Counselling Service.

Firstly an intake asessment appointment will be made with you. Our Intake Clinician will meet you to have a confidential discussion about your circumstances to help decide which service will best suited to your needs and discuss withdrawal option prior to admission if needed.

Once this has been arranged, we will organise an appointment with a clinician to support you develop some recovery goals. Community members presenting to SCHS needing urgent assitance will be directed to the mental health service at Mildura Base Hospital so they can receive suitable care.

Drug treatment Programs

AOD Counselling

Our Alcohol and Other Drug Counselling service supports consumers to learn harm reduction and relapse prevention strategies. We partner with consumers to develop recovery plans that address their needs. Counselling can be provided face-to-face, online or via telephone.

Pharmacotherapy

Pharmacotherapy is used to describe the use of medication to assist in the treatment of opioid addiction. Consumers seeking support can be linked in with General Practitioners or Addiction Medicine Specialists for assessment and commencement of opioid replacement therapy.

Needle Syringe Program (NSP)

Our Alcohol and Other Drug Counselling service supports consumers to learn harm reduction and relapse prevention strategies. We partner with consumers to develop recovery plans that address their needs. Counselling can be provided face-to-face, online or via telephone.

Non residential rehabilitation Program

Pharmacotherapy is used to describe the use of medication to assist in the treatment of opioid addiction. Consumers seeking support can be linked in with General Practitioners or Addiction Medicine Specialists for assessment and commencement of opioid replacement therapy.

Withdrawal Nursing

Our Withdrawal Nurses provide information, assessment, advice and support to consumers, family members and General Practitioners regarding the course of a planned withdrawal from alcohol and other drugs.
